Rəhman Məmmədli + Embryo feat. Sumanth Manjunath
A live music evening at Import Export in München featuring Rəhman Məmmədli alongside the legendary group Embryo with guest Sumanth Manjunath.
Embryo is a Munich-based musical collective founded in 1969 by multi-instrumentalist Christian Burchard and saxophonist Edgar Hofmann, widely regarded as one of the most eclectic bands to emerge from the krautrock scene. Over more than five decades they have woven jazz, rock, and the folk traditions of North Africa, the Middle East, India, and Asia into a restlessly evolving sound, collaborating with over 400 musicians along the way. Since the death of founder Christian Burchard in 2018, his daughter Marja Burchard has led the group, keeping its spirit of open-ended improvisation very much alive.
Embryo released 'Meets The World' on February 7, 2025 via Sonorama Records - a compilation of previously unreleased ethno-jazz recordings from 1979/80, restored from original tapes and featuring sessions with the Kabul Radio Orchestra and musicians from Eritrea, Syria, and Iraq.
Embryo performed at Import Export in Munich in June 2026, one of their most recent documented live dates.
Embryo played two German shows in August 2025 - at Kulturfabrik Salzmann in Kassel and at Weseler Werft in Frankfurt.
Embryo performed at Casilino Sky Park in Rome in July 2025.
Embryo played a concert in Emmerich, Germany in November 2024.
