About: Luciano Pavarotti

Born in Modena in 1935, Pavarotti rose from a local choir to conquer the world's greatest opera stages, earning the nickname 'King of the High Cs' for his nine effortless high Cs in Donizetti's La fille du régiment. His crossover appeal - from Verdi and Puccini to pop collaborations with Bono and Elton John - made him the face of opera for millions who had never set foot in an opera house.
