Volker Weininger - Filmriss
Stadthalle Vennehof Borken, Germany
The session president is on a roll: he escaped the morning gathering by 7 PM, was re-elected at the annual meeting with 104 percent of the vote - and finally, a long-overdue promotion awaits him. If only he knew where he'd put that blasted school certificate. It must be in the box down in the basement, where he keeps everything: certificates, unpaid bills, diplomas, medals, photographs, love letters, parking tickets, his first beer glass from communion - his entire life.
So the president sits down in the basement, opens a beer, and starts searching. And as he rummages through the box, suddenly all those stories come flooding back - stories he might well have forgotten without the box: first day of school, first beer, first kiss (all on the same day!), wedding, children, club outings - and of course Hermann, his friend who lives at the bare minimum of intelligence.
In his second solo programme, Volker Weininger takes us as a session president on an autobiographical journey through his eventful life. The beers and the gags come thick and fast. Some things he can no longer remember exactly - a real filmriss. Fortunately, there's the box and a few witnesses who can help. But where is that damned certificate?
