LJODAHÅTT

Seven musicians, actors and composers from across Europe take the stage - dressed in black, bowler hats on their heads. The collective Ljodahått, founded by Norwegian Magne Håvard Brekke, has set Norwegian poetry to music: from the Edda and Henrik Ibsen to Tarjei Vesaas and Olav H. Hauge.

The band name is well chosen: the Norwegian word ljodahått refers to an ancient Nordic verse form and can also be translated as "song of the trolls". Musically, Nordic song forms meet folk, jazz and rock - the music shifts between lyrical beauty and raw, wild sound.

All singing is in Norwegian. Short spoken introductions and texts projected onto the back wall in the local language help the audience follow the poems.
