Joo Kraus - Neue Tour 2026 — Kulturforum Lüneburg, Lüneburg

For many years now, Joo Kraus has rightfully been counted among the most respected jazz trumpeters in Europe. The trumpet wasn't exactly placed in his cradle, but it did end up next to his school books early on. His father played trumpet and taught him his first fingerings. At 19, a first prize at the national "Jugend musiziert" competition launched him onto the scene. He then spent five years gaining stage experience with the electro-rock band "Kraan". In the early 1990s, he and Hellmut Hattler founded the hip-jazz duo "Tab Two". The rhythm section and effects were already computer-generated - a genuinely groundbreaking approach at the time. "Tab Two" toured across Europe, Asia and the USA, released eight albums, and became one of the most influential acts in the genre worldwide.

Through the 2000s, Joo Kraus increasingly wrote his own material. He recorded the album "Sueño" at Havana's oldest recording studio and arranged Michael Jackson songs into an intellectually ambitious tribute to the King of Pop. His career spans decades of international stage and studio work, countless world tours, 2 Grammy nominations, the Echo Jazz award for best German trumpeter, and 5 German Jazz Awards in gold. Whether performing with Cuban pianist Omar Sosa, with Paula Morelenbaum, as a guest of Klaus Doldinger, with the SWR Big Band, or with his own quintet - there is always that unmistakable sound: understated yet powerful, with infectious joy and a keen ear for his fellow musicians.
