Nature Is Not a Party Member

Physicists Harald Lesch and Axel Kleidon are frustrated by the widespread unwillingness of large parts of the political world to understand how nature actually works.

Time and again, politicians and business leaders act as though the laws of nature can simply be ignored. There is a persistent fondness in politics for Harry Potter-style technological magic tricks. That is why both physicists are speaking plainly at Urania Berlin: nature does not negotiate, it takes no sides, and it cannot be co-opted. They lay out, clearly and concisely, what efficient energy use and climate protection really mean, why energy degrades, and what policies would look like if decision-makers had genuinely grasped how nature operates.
