Amusing stories and homegrown sound from the Upper Palatinate
"Wilde Zeiten" - that's the title of Die Spießer's second programme. "Sometimes I'm a philistine and then I'm a connoisseur and then I'm sunshine and then I'm like sour wine".
When "Susi Raith and Die Spießer" sing in harmony, accompanied by light, cheerful major chords on guitar and ukulele, it sounds so natural, joyful and full of playfulness, the way life could simply be. We're all just as we are. Each with our own quirks and each of us a philistine sometimes. How simple. How liberating. How sympathetic and at the same time musically accomplished. Between songs the four musicians happily share amusing anecdotes.
The sound from home, from the Upper Palatinate, is distinctly audible but with its own unique character: sometimes with gentle melodies, but no kitsch! Sometimes pop, sometimes driving rock and loud, but no noise! Sometimes heartfelt, but not pathetic and mostly in dialect.
The blues-rock "Wieda mal gschafft, a durchzechte Nacht" evokes tired but happy hours at dawn.
