Shakespeares Hamlet* - Das Rockmusical

Hamlet mourns his father, the King of Denmark, who has just died. His mother remarries almost immediately - wedding her late husband's brother Claudius, who thereby becomes king himself. When Hamlet learns that Claudius may have murdered his father, he begins plotting revenge. Torn between social convention, his love for Ophelia, and doubt over whether vengeance is the right path, the tragedy runs its course.

Opernwerkstatt am Rhein breathes new life into Shakespeare's tragedy with a 15-strong ensemble and a live band: original texts meet driving rock music, courtly dance meets hip hop, clean modern staging meets elaborate steampunk costumes. Instead of typical musical numbers, the show features well-known rock and pop hits ranging from Supertramp to Adele - a gripping production that makes Shakespeare's classic feel entirely fresh.
