Ryan Young - Scottish fiddle folk of rare intensity

Ryan Young stands out as one of the most compelling instrumentalists of his generation in Scottish folk music. The fiddler is known for his extraordinary expressiveness - with a strong tone and intense phrasing, he turns every piece into an emotional narrative. His music doesn't show off virtuosity; it goes straight to the heart, urgent and deeply moving.

The 35-year-old's international reputation has taken him on concert tours as far as Australia and the USA. In Young's playing, Scottish and Irish tradition merge into a distinctive, timeless sound - at once archaic and contemporary. The Scottish press has called him "a force of nature". His third studio album came out in May 2026, produced with Irish fiddle master Martin Hayes.
