Few people spent as much time in spa towns as Franz Kafka. After being diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis in 1917, he regularly retreated to sanatoriums for several weeks at a time - and there encountered naturopathy, nudism, and an ascetic lifestyle.

Journalist Anne-Dore Krohn and ZDF literary critic Denis Scheck illuminate lesser-known facets of the Prague author in their "Kafka-Revue" and challenge common stereotypes. Did you know that Kafka discovered a vegetarian cookbook in a sanatorium and subsequently ate according to its recipes? (Cotton soup! Ofenschlupfer!) That he supposedly invented the answering machine? And that he and Max Brod conceived a travel guide series that was something like the Lonely Planet of its time?
