Arktos, a fearsome snowman, seeks to cover the world in ice. The old dragon Tyrion prepares his young son Tabaluga for his destined task - protecting the world. To succeed, Tabaluga must find the True Fire and put an end to Arktos's schemes. With the help of a wizard, the little dragon sets out on his quest. Tabaluga faces many dangers, including the spider woman Tarantula, but also discovers beautiful things. He learns that the world, with all its good and evil, is worth saving.

Arktos tries to prevent Tabaluga from fulfilling his destiny and creates a beautiful being from pure ice - the girl Lilli. Her only purpose is to distract Tabaluga from his search for the True Fire. Tabaluga, as Arktos planned, falls in love with Lilli, but through this discovers a great and beautiful power - Love.
