With this production dedicated to the life and work of Hildegard Knef, we launch our new series BERLINER PERSÖNLICHKEITEN.

Hildegard Knef: "face of zero hour", "the unspoiled girl from the rubble", "the second Dietrich". The Berlin-born woman with grit, heart and wit collected many titles, including a string of superlatives: "the first great post-war actress", "the first German woman on Broadway", "Germany's last diva". Much was said, written, speculated and mocked about Hildegard Knef, who died in Berlin in 2002 at the age of 76. But who really was the woman behind three brilliant careers - as an actress, chanson singer and author?

Through her own texts and her unforgotten songs, we draw a portrait of Hildegard Knef - a woman who never settled for the ordinary, lived a life of extremes, and whose independence, thinking and actions always put her ahead of her time.

Our warmest thanks go to all the production patrons for their generous support!
