Ballet with Music: Ludwig van Beethoven - Symphony No. 7 - A Ballet Production by Kreismusikschule Prignitz — Kultur- und Festspielhaus Wittenberge, Wittenberge

With the project "Ballet with Music: Ludwig van Beethoven - Symphony No. 7", the Kreismusikschule Prignitz continues its successful series of large-scale ballet productions.

Following previous stagings of:
- "Pulcinella" (Igor Stravinsky, 2007/2008),
- "Répliques" (Robert Schumann, 2010),
- "Cendrillon" (Fernando Sor, 2013),
- "Rosenkavalier" (Richard Strauss, 2016) and
- "Swan Lake" (Pyotr Tchaikovsky, 2020/2022),
Beethoven's 7th Symphony now forms the basis of the school's sixth major production.

Piano teacher Hans Hendrik Wielgosz has arranged this landmark work of European musical literature for a twelve-piece piano and percussion ensemble. The performers include current students and former graduates of the Kreismusikschule Prignitz, who return to Prignitz especially for rehearsals and performances.

The choreography is created under the direction of ballet teacher Katharina Fährmann, who involves all training groups in her class - around 40 students aged 6 to 20.

Although the 7th Symphony was not written as ballet music, the production develops an independent, creative dance interpretation that brings Beethoven's music to life through movement - in the spirit of Richard Wagner's famous phrase about the "apotheosis of dance".
