Ballet with Music: Ludwig van Beethoven - 7th Symphony - A Ballet Production by Kreismusikschule Prignitz

With "Ballet with Music: Ludwig van Beethoven - 7th Symphony", the Kreismusikschule Prignitz continues its series of major ballet productions. Following "Pulcinella" (Igor Stravinsky, 2007/2008), "Répliques" (Robert Schumann, 2010), "Cendrillon" (Fernando Sor, 2013), "Rosenkavalier" (Richard Strauss, 2016) and "Schwanensee" (Pyotr Tchaikovsky, 2020/2022), this is the sixth production of its kind.

Piano teacher Hans Hendrik Wielgosz has arranged Beethoven's 7th Symphony for a twelve-piece piano and percussion ensemble. The performers include current students and former graduates of the school, who return to Prignitz especially for rehearsals and performances.

Choreography is by ballet teacher Katharina Fährmann, who involves all training groups from her class - around 40 students aged 6 to 20. Although Beethoven's symphony was never written as ballet music, it becomes the basis for an independent dance work - very much in the spirit of Richard Wagner's description of it as the "apotheosis of dance".
