A unique band collective flowing with sound, energy and intuition
SNEAKY JESUS from Wrocław move precisely where music opens up: between jazz, experiment and pulsing improvisation. The quartet understands itself less as a classical band, more as a shared sonic body that emerges in the moment. At the centre lies collective improvisation - as the engine for constant change, dialogue and surprise.
Their music appears direct and multi-layered: sometimes forceful and moving, sometimes expansive and atmospheric. Unpredictability plays a decisive role - any piece can shift into a new direction at any time. There are only two rules when it comes to cunning Jesus music: don't overthink and trust your emotions. Live, a tension field emerges between structure and freedom, between control and letting go.
The band has internalized the greats of Polish jazz like Krzysztof Komeda and Tomasz Stanko, yet they combine their legacy with entirely contemporary sounds that in turn echo the best from British jazz circles.
The four musicians know each other not only on stage but are also closely connected off it. Their shared, often subtle humour flows noticeably through their music and creates a particular lightness. The result is a sound that is both accessible and challenging.
Since their founding in spring 2019, the band has continually evolved and developed a distinctive profile. With albums like For Joseph Riddle and For Chaching Taphed, plus the current release for better future (2026), they demonstrate their versatility. Fully improvised live recordings like outta space underscore their strength in spontaneous interplay.
International attention was not long in coming: airplay on BBC, RTÉ and Worldwide FM, plus enthusiastic reviews in specialist media speak for themselves. On stages across Europe - from Warsaw…
