Gerd Dudenhöffer Plays Heinz Becker DOD - Life Is the End

DOD - Life Is the End was abruptly halted in March 2020 due to the pandemic. In spring 2025, the programme returns in a revised version - prompted by the few performances that took place at the time and the sustained demand ever since.

Gerd Dudenhöffer plays Heinz Becker. Cemetery bells. Sonorous. Gloomy. Then cold white light: Heinz comes home from the funeral, into the kitchen, in a black suit, five calla lilies in hand - "I forgot to throw these in the grave." The flowers land on the kitchen table. What can you do!?

"Want another beer?" - nobody asks that question anymore. Familiar routine, gone. Everyday life, collapsed. And so Heinz begins to ponder, reflect, process.

DOD is theatrical "cabaret noir" - stringently staged, black and white, light and dark, deftly balancing tragedy and comedy. Tragicomic, really. Because Heinz is Heinz. "Deathly certain".
