Arielle, the Little Mermaid

A theatre show for children of all ages, based on the story by Hans Christian Andersen, adapted by Jan Bodinus with music by Stefan Hiller.

Arielle the little mermaid is forbidden from swimming to the ocean's surface. But her longing to see the human world is so powerful that she defies her father Triton, king of the seas. Even her friend Flippi can't talk her out of it. When she spots the handsome Prince Eric aboard his ship, she falls hopelessly in love. She can only watch as a fierce storm batters the vessel - then dives in without hesitation to save Eric from certain death.

Her love for Eric is so strong that she decides to become human so she can be with him forever. The wicked sea witch Hydra offers to help, but demands Arielle's beautiful voice in return. Bravely, Arielle trades her fish tail for human legs. She has just three days to receive the kiss of true love from Eric and become human permanently - or she will be lost forever, dissolved into sea foam.

Eric is captivated by Arielle, yet his heart truly belongs to the voice of the one who saved him. Then Hydra appears, claiming she was the one who rescued the prince - while Eric, still dazed from the shipwreck, remembers only Arielle's sweet voice... In the end, a couple in love brings the worlds of land and sea into harmony, and the whole story closes with a big celebration of dance and music.
