The Harzer Bergtheater in Thale is an open-air theatre carved into the rocky slopes of the Bode valley, with the dramatic Hexentanzplatz cliffs as its natural backdrop. It seats around 1,800 spectators and has staged performances since the early 20th century. The programme centres on the Walpurgis Night celebrations each April 30th, alongside fairy-tale plays, musicals and folk theatre throughout the summer season.
