The chlorine-soaked days at the run-down neighbourhood pool are over: the facility needs a full renovation, and lifeguard Rudi Schaluppke needs a new job. Since pool professionals are in demand everywhere, he sets off on an odyssey through Germany's bathing landscape.

Rudi lends a hand wherever he's needed - in themed thermal spas, wellness retreats and leisure pools where actual swimming has long become an afterthought. He wields his terry-cloth towel, teaches teenage girls and their mums "Mer Maiding", and explores damp worlds he's never encountered before. His verdict, as always brief: Everyone into the showers!
