Bajazzo Bigband feat. Philip Lassiter: Brass & Beats - The Funk Explosion

baJAZZo Bigband is bringing a special guest of rare calibre to Rees: Philip Lassiter, American trumpeter, arranger and producer, and one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary funk and soul.

Lassiter built his international reputation above all as a long-standing arranger for pop icon Prince and "The New Power Generation". Widely regarded as a visionary at the crossroads of jazz, funk and gospel, he brings the razor-sharp brass sound honed in Nashville and Los Angeles straight to the baJAZZo Bigband stage. He is an eleven-time award winner in his field.

The programme goes well beyond a conventional big-band concert. Lassiter's own compositions and arrangements are known for their rhythmic complexity and raw energy - a challenge that demands world-class technical skill and a deep feel for groove.
