Arrivederci? Yes! Arrivederci! For goodness' sake, at some point you have to call it a day. One last look around at everything that's happened over 60 years in the Rhineland - 47 of them on stage. One final breath of life into the "kölsche Grundgesetz", for your last laugh. Every paragraph, every preamble - illustrated with examples, reasoning, stories and the odd song, so that even non-Rhinelanders get a real chance to understand what kind of special universe the Rhineland actually is.

That's the least I owe the Rhineland. But then enough is enough. I have other things to do besides making you laugh: there are (at the moment) 2 granddaughters and 2 grandsons, and who knows what else might come along (I haven't given up hope!). On top of that, I need to look after my health - I'm a "premium patient" at the University Hospital in Bonn (it says so right there in my file!), and I've had quite a few adventures there. Besides, I'm no Johannes Heesters - I'm just an ordinary man crossing between Italy, South Tyrol and the Rhineland. And since they say in the Rhineland: "Niemals geht man so ganz" - we'll surely run into each other again somewhere, who knows. Until then, I'm looking forward like mad to seeing you all one last time.
