Martha High & Band

Martha High is an internationally celebrated entertainer, author and vocal coach. In the mid-1960s, at the age of 18, she was discovered by the "Godfather of Soul" James Brown while singing with The Four Jewels at the world-famous Apollo Theater in New York. After Brown invited her to join the James Brown Revue, the group renamed itself The Jewels. He later gave her the stage name Martha High and crowned her the "Goddess of Soul".

She worked alongside Brown for 32 years. Over the course of her career she shared the stage with legends including Michael Jackson, B.B. King, Bo Diddley, Fred Wesley and Maceo Parker, and appeared in the film The Blues Brothers. Her powerful voice has filled prestigious venues such as the Olympia in Paris, Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall and the Hollywood Bowl, as well as major jazz festivals in Montreux, Pori, Nice and Porretta.

She has also appeared on well-known TV shows hosted by Johnny Carson, David Letterman and Arsenio Hall. With nearly six decades in the spotlight, Martha High has captivated audiences around the globe - and she continues to perform for fans in the USA, South America, Europe and Japan.
