Pindakaas Saxophon Quartett: "Voyage" - A Journey Through the Centuries
Schloss Lembeck, Dorsten, Germany
18 €
Thorsten Floth (soprano saxophone), Guido Grospietsch (alto saxophone), Anja Heix (tenor saxophone) and Matthias Schröder (baritone saxophone)
With unapologetic virtuosity, the Pindakaas Saxophon Quartett brings together baroque and classical music, tango nuevo and jazz on a single stage. Their programme "Voyage" traces a colourful path through four centuries: from Renaissance and Baroque masterworks by Giovanni Gabrieli, Orlando di Lasso and Johann Sebastian Bach, through Romantic and Impressionist compositions by Isaac Albéniz and Claude Debussy, to original saxophone quartet music and 20th-century works by Jacques Ibert, Aaron Copland, Kurt Weill, Astor Piazzolla and George Gershwin.
Throughout, the saxophone unlocks a wide range of sonic worlds - from organ-like and orchestral textures of the Baroque masters to elegant chamber music of the Classical and Romantic eras and the compelling modern sounds of the 20th century.
