Das Landesjugendorchester Sachsen-Anhalt

The Landesjugendorchester Sachsen-Anhalt makes its first guest appearance at Konzerthaus Wernigerode in August 2026. Young musicians aged 13-23 from across Saxony-Anhalt gather twice yearly - in February and August - to rehearse and perform ambitious symphonic works. The ensemble is led by conductor Michael Wendeberg and supported by tutors from various professional orchestras in central Germany.

The programme features Weber's overture to the opera "Oberon", Walton's Viola Concerto (1929), and Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony ("Pathétique"). Violist Marvin Stark performs as soloist in the Walton concerto - born in Halle (Saale) in 1999, he is himself a former member of the youth orchestra.
