Landesjugendorchester Sachsen-Anhalt

Since 1992, the State Youth Orchestra of Saxony-Anhalt has captivated audiences and critics alike with unbridled joy in performance, compelling interpretations, and outstanding artistic excellence. Twice a year, in February and August, young musicians aged 13-23 from across the state gather to study ambitious works from the great symphonic repertoire and perform them together on stage. For many musicians, this valuable experience becomes a decisive catalyst for understanding music as a calling. The orchestra is led by Michael Wendeberg, supported by tutors from various professional orchestras in central Germany.

In August 2026, the Landesjugendorchester will perform for the first time at the Wernigerode Concert Hall. The programme features Weber's overture to the opera "Oberon", Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony, and William Walton's Viola Concerto from 1929. The soloist is a former orchestra member - violist Marvin Stark, born in 1999 in Halle (Saale).
