Nils Kercher Trio with special guest Oumar Barou Kouyaté (Mali) - African Pulse & Nordic Space

Singer and multi-instrumentalist Nils Kercher blends West African traditions with Nordic introspection and contemporary songwriting. His international trio works with kora, balafon, guitar, percussion and multi-part vocals - a fusion of two musical worlds that brings continents together through its own lyrical sonic language.

As special guest, Oumar Barou Kouyaté, nephew of the internationally renowned Bassekou Kouyaté, brings the Malian lute Ngoni. Kira Kaipainen (Finland) completes the ensemble with voice, percussion and original song texts. The trio combines subtlety and delicacy in its compositions with a pronounced passion for rhythm - clearly arranged, powerful and filigree all at once.

Nils Kercher's album "Ancient Intimations" reached the World Music Charts Europe. BBC, Songlines, fRoots and R2 Magazine compared his music to artists such as Rokia Traore, Steve Reich and Peter Gabriel.
