The Jakob Manz Project — Bischofsmühle, Hildesheim

One of Europe's most exciting saxophonists on the jazz scene

What more can be said about this ensemble? Bandleader and saxophonist Jakob Manz has essentially won every award available.

The Jakob Manz Project ranks among the most successful bands of young German jazz. Few young formations manage to stir such storms of enthusiasm in their audiences. Whether playing in a club or on a major festival stage, the unmistakable energy of this band permeates every concert hall to its furthest corner and sweeps the audience into their multilayered music.

Following their acclaimed debut album Natural Energy (ACT 2020), the band toured throughout Germany and performed at some of the country's largest jazz festivals, including Leverkusener Jazztagen, ELBJAZZ, Jazz Baltica, and of course Hildesheimer Jazztime - even twice in a row.

"They drove the spirit of jazz with determination through the forum - which led to the audience standing and applauding at the end."
Kölner Stadtanzeiger on their performance at Leverkusener Jazztagen.

Direct and clear sound, rich dynamics, and emotional depth - these are the hallmarks of their music. Although the young bandleader's saxophone usually takes center stage, every live concert clearly reflects the musical individuality of each band member. This is evident in the diverse repertoire, which consists of compositions written by the individual band members themselves.

Beyond his own jazz projects, Jakob Manz is currently also active on major pop stages, accompanying Sarah Connor as saxophonist in her live band on tour and at summer open-air concerts.
