Johnny & The Yooahoos

Johnny & The Yooahoos are winners of the "IBMA International Band Grant" - and they're playing live at the Bischofsmühle.

The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) awards this grant annually to one non-American band. It covers 5,000 US dollars toward the costs of attending the IBMA World of Bluegrass in the USA. Johnny & The Yooahoos won the prize and last summer completed a five-week US tour - with stops at the Grand Ole Opry and the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival.

Musically, the Yooahoos play entirely acoustic: banjo, mandolin, guitar, double bass and three-part harmonies. They blend traditional bluegrass with contemporary folk, moving between nostalgic roots and a present-day sensibility.
