Who would have thought that on 17 October 2000, an unusual band made its debut at Arigato, a scene club right by Marienplatz in Stuttgart. Two acoustic guitars, a wooden box called a Cajon, and two gifted voices. That was all it took to bring a powerful sound to the stage, far removed from the thin tones of other acoustic combos. Of course, behind it all stood masterful musical skills, the right feel for arrangements, refined technique, and meticulous work on the sound. DICKE FISCHE were born.
Although the band hails from the quiet town of Holzgerlingen near Böblingen in the south of Stuttgart, many performances in the region soon followed, including regular, legendary concerts at the Atrium in Altdorf, which quickly filled to capacity. The number of fans grew exponentially with each performance. DICKE FISCHE earned their legendary reputation not only for their sound but also for two other distinctive qualities:
They played carefully selected songs in their own unique way in their unusual line-up - VERDICKFISCHT - giving the band its own personal character. And they celebrated their performances with devotion and attention to the audience, who eagerly absorbed these emotions and reciprocated them.
From a local band, they quickly became a well-known act across southern Germany, standing for an intense musical experience. The Dicke Fische hype ultimately led to 200 performances per year, the production of several CDs with their own songs, the publication of their own books, and a fan club that followed them from concert to concert.
Their tenth anniversary at Wilhelma Theater in Stuttgart was a special highlight. In front of the majestic backdrop of the classical building, DICKE FISCHE were able to perform together with renowned guest musicians from the international scene.
