Voyager

Closing the Sommertöne 2026 festival, the duo runge & ammon makes its first appearance at the Lindensaal in Markkleeberg. Eckart Runge (cello) and Jacques Ammon (piano) have been one of Europe's most distinctive chamber duos for years.

Their programme "Voyager" places Beethoven at the centre as a visionary and humanist: works for cello and piano meet arrangements drawn from rock, pop and jazz - including music by Coldplay, Led Zeppelin and Lady Gaga. The arrangements were created in close collaboration with Wolf Kerschek.

The title "Voyager" refers to the Voyager 1 and 2 space probes, which have been travelling through interstellar space for 50 years and permanently shifted our perspective on the seemingly familiar - an image that applies equally to Beethoven's music, which still speaks of freedom, dignity and humanity.
