Voyager

For the festive closing of Sommertöne 2026, the festival welcomes the internationally renowned duo runge & ammon to the elegant Lindensaal Markkleeberg for the first time. Eckart Runge (cello) and Jacques Ammon (piano) have been among Europe's leading chamber music duos for many years, distinguished by their extraordinary musicality and artistic openness.

In their new programme "Voyager", the artists present Beethoven as a visionary and humanist. Works for cello and piano encounter arrangements from rock, pop and jazz. This creates surprising perspectives on a composer whose music continues to speak of freedom, dignity and humanity. The arrangements were created in close collaboration with Wolf Kerschek and include music by Coldplay, Led Zeppelin and Lady Gaga.

The title "Voyager" references the Voyager 1 and 2 space probes, which have been travelling through interstellar space for 50 years and have fundamentally changed our view of the universe. A brilliant finale to the Sommertöne 2026 festival in a special atmosphere.
