Ferdinand von Schirach - Der stille Freund — Philharmonie Essen, Essen
Description was written before the event

From autumn 2026, Ferdinand von Schirach embarks on a tour across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland with his new programme "Der stille Freund". The programme explores human triumph and failure - friendship, hope, Greek Stoicism, and death. It has its own distinctive form, inspired by the book of the same name, but can only be experienced in this form on stage.

Ferdinand von Schirach has been called a "magnificent storyteller" by Der Spiegel and an "extraordinary stylist" by the New York Times. The Independent compared him to Kafka and Kleist, Financial Times to Raymond Carver, and the Daily Telegraph sees in him "one of the most distinctive voices of European literature". His books have been published in more than forty countries and sold millions of copies; many have been adapted for film. His plays Terror and God rank among the most performed and most discussed dramas of our time worldwide.
