Rossini in Wildbad: Marriage in Transit - Weckerlin P

Modern world premieres! Weckerlin, an Alsatian composer, achieved great success in 1850s Paris with his small operas, some of which were first performed in the salons of his friend Rossini. A young woman is to be married to a stranger and refuses. During her journey, she meets her fiancé, who disguises himself as someone else to test her. The bride sees through the game but reveals nothing. Her father mistakes the stranger for a criminal and wants to have him arrested, but in the end everyone must reveal themselves: the young couple have truly fallen in love, and the bride's father manages to stop the authorities. A happy ending. We also perform a scene set in Rossini's salon, featuring modern world premieres of Rossini pieces, couplets, and songs.
