Four-hand piano playing is a rare and quite special art form. Long-established instrumental habits are put to the test. Terrain is shared and highly specialized management of movement sequences makes the music succeed. Sonic worlds open up that are only possible in this constellation.

Classically trained pianist Ulrike Mai studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock, attended international masterclasses and won competitions. She subsequently built a reputation as a freelancer, collaborating with various orchestras and as a soloist. She performs classical and contemporary music.

Lutz Gerlach studied piano at the Berlin Musikhochschule "Hanns Eisler" and considers his artistic home to be in jazz. He works as a composer, producer, musician and event artist. In his numerous CD releases over recent years, he has increasingly moved away from the artistic freedom of improvisation toward the architecture of fully notated compositions. This has resulted in numerous works for various chamber music ensembles.
