Sternstunden der Musikgeschichte with Lutz Gerlach & Ulrike Mai - from Classical to Jazz. Works by Bach, Chopin, Brubeck, Kurt Weill & Gerlach — Schloss Ribbeck, Nauen OT Ribbeck

"Lost in the Stars" (after Kurt Weill) - a journey through landmark moments in music history, from classical to jazz, featuring works by Bach, Chopin, Brubeck, Kurt Weill and Gerlach.

Four-hand piano playing is a rare and highly specific art form: decades of individual instrumental habits are put to the test, the keyboard must be divided into territories, and every movement precisely coordinated. The result is a sound world that can only exist in this particular configuration.

Ulrike Mai studied piano at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Rostock, attended international masterclasses and won competitions. She has since worked as a freelance artist - performing with various orchestras and as a soloist in both classical and contemporary repertoire.

Lutz Gerlach also studied piano, at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin, and considers jazz his artistic home. He works as a composer, producer, musician and event artist. His many recordings in recent years show a growing shift from improvisation toward notated composition, with a series of works for various chamber ensembles.
