The Baltic Sea Philharmonic opens its festival on Saturday, 19 September 2026 at 20:00 in Peenemünde's Historisch-Technisches Museum. Conductor Robert Treviño leads the orchestra through works by Stenhammar, Tchaikovsky, and Brahms, featuring the Rococo Variations for cello and orchestra. Twelve-year-old cellist Charlotte Melkonian, winner of the 2026 Usedom Music Prize, performs as soloist. This is one of two German dates for the ensemble; the other took place in Halle (Saale). The museum occupies a former power station of the Nazi-era rocket research facility on Usedom island, where the history of military technology provides an atmospheric backdrop for the evening. Ticket: 28 €.
