ONKeL fISCH are the standard-bearers of hope in the German satire scene. Wherever they go, they bring hope along. Their motto: there's always time to despair later.
It's far too easy to grumble about everything - climate change, war, rising prices, the AfD, Berlin, Donald Trump, or Germany's latest entry in the Eurovision Song Contest. Bombarded by doom-mongers and know-it-alls, many people feel they're already standing at the edge of the abyss. Maybe so - but the view from the edge is the best there is. Ultimately, most things come down to perspective. Whether the glass is half full or half empty hardly matters. What counts: we have something to drink!
The two movement fanatics spread hope wherever they can - and they do it with flair: laughter, singing, dancing, all at Germany's own pace and in slow motion at the same time. Modern cabaret that has you rolling in the aisles, pitched between expectation and attitude. Heiner Müller once said: optimism is merely a lack of information. But one must add: so is pessimism! ONKeL fISCH are on a hope-fuelled satirical mission across the country, sharpening the nation's mental defences. And it's genuinely funny!
