Jazz meets Hannover Baroque

The JazzArt Ensemble presents this year's project with an unusual instrumentation for modern jazz: theorbo, harpsichord and viola da gamba meet voice, saxophone and drums - just part of the instrumental palette with which the sextet under the artistic direction of Ulli Orth brings exclusive compositions by ensemble members to the stage. Inspired by Hannover's musical tradition since Handel and Steffani, the musicians create sounds and grooves that transcend epoch boundaries and leave room for extensive improvisation.

Performers: Rolf Zielke, Andreas Düker, Martin Tschoepe, Brita Rehsöft, Ulli Orth, Rainer Winch.

The JazzArt Niedersachsen project series has combined contemporary jazz with other art forms since 2004. Previous projects included "Heimatklänge" (encounter of three European neighboring regions), "Jazz goes Church Music" (fusion with sacred vocal music), "In Wahrheit Jazz" (engagement with German poetry) and most recently in 2022 "Rollin' 20s" - a musical linking of past and present twenties with video art. The series is produced by "Kunst und Begegnung Hermannshof e.V."
