Jazz meets Hannover Baroque — Nienburger Kulturwerk, Nienburg

JazzArt Ensemble arrives with an absolutely unconventional line-up for modern jazz: theorbo, harpsichord and viola da gamba alongside voice, saxophone and drums form just part of the diverse instrumental palette with which the sextet, under the artistic direction of Ulli Orth, presents exclusive compositions by ensemble members for a captivating concert evening.

Inspired by influences from Hanover's musical tradition since Händel and Steffani, extraordinary sounds and grooves emerge that transcend epoch boundaries and offer experimentation with abundant improvisational elements.

The concert promises musical enjoyment of the highest class, one that will move not only jazz lovers and classical music enthusiasts, but all music-minded listeners with open ears for something beautiful and new.

Crossover at its best!

Performing at the concert: Rolf Zielke, Andreas Düker, Martin Tschoepe, Brita Rehsöft, Ulli Orth, Rainer Winch

The JazzArt Niedersachsen project series has been successfully exploring the fusion of modern jazz with other art forms, including non-musical ones, since 2004 (Jazz goes Praetorius), at intervals of two to three years. Three of the previous projects brought together three European neighbouring regions (Heimatklänge), merged with sacred vocal music (Jazz goes Church Music), and engaged with texts of German poetry (In Wahrheit Jazz). Most recently, in 2022, Rollin' 20s realized a musical connection between the music of past and present decades with video art.

The project series is produced by "Kunst und Begegnung Hermannshof e.V."
