The rock in the surf - 40 years of Boppin'B
Holy Moly, seriously? 40 years?
This outfit has been rocking and rolling for four decades straight, criss-crossing Germany and the neighbouring countries - and clearly still 1. loves every minute of it and 2. has no intention of stopping.
For context: in 1985, Boris Becker won Wimbledon for the first time, Commodore launched the Amiga, Helmut Kohl was three years into his chancellorship, Gorbachev became General Secretary of the CPSU, Live Aid played simultaneously in London and Philadelphia, the TV series Lindenstrasse kicked off - and Boppin'B played their very first gig. At a school festival.
What makes this anniversary remarkable is that the band's history contains no multi-year hiatus followed by a reunion. They're not a hobby act playing twice a year at the local fair. And these musicians have done over 6,000 (!) shows without a large entourage - DIY in its purest form.
In September the band treated themselves - and their fans - to a new album: their 16th, and the first to consist entirely of original material. Fourteen songs that show just how versatile and timeless rock'n'roll can sound.
That this material also ignites live will be proven in 2026 on stages across Germany and beyond. Club or festival - the infectious energy, passion and sheer joy of playing that Boppin'B radiate simply put you in a good mood.
