Die UDO JÜRGENS Story
A tribute to the grand master of German-language entertainment
Catchy melodies, a one-of-a-kind personality and an enduring legacy: Udo Jürgens captivated millions of fans on his tours. The concert show "Die UDO JÜRGENS STORY" is back on the road in 2026 and 2027.
Even those who knew Udo Jürgens personally rave about this tribute to the doyen of German popular music: "A must for every Udo fan!" The Austrian artist won the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson in 1966 with "Merci, Chérie", which topped the charts in more than 20 countries. He went on to become one of the most important entertainers of the 20th and early 21st centuries, selling over 100 million records and releasing more than 50 albums - one of the most commercially successful male solo artists in the world.
"Die UDO JÜRGENS STORY" gives fans the chance to get close to their idol once more. This remarkable tribute is framed as a compelling song evening, put together by Gabriela Benesch, who was named best theatre actress of the year in Vienna in 2014.
She takes the stage herself and, as a long-time friend of the Jürgens family, shares fascinating, funny and little-known anecdotes drawn from the entertainer's personal notes - tracing his life from childhood to old age.
Trained pianist Alex Parker performs the beloved schlager icon's songs as if Udo himself were standing at the microphone. The musical journey covers all the big hits - "Mit 66 Jahren", "Griechischer Wein", "Liebe ohne Leiden", "Merci Chérie", "Ich war noch niemals in New York" - plus a handful of rarities, with Parker accompanying himself at the piano in true Udo style.
