#21 Somewhere in the World
Kloster Schöntal, Germany
The Munich Harmonists
Manfred Stecher, Manuel Adt baritone / Michael Birgmeier, Klaus Steppberger tenor / Clemens Joswig bass / Oliver Hahn piano
This sextet brings vocal brilliance, tight ensemble sound and musical wit in the tradition of the Comedian Harmonists. Beloved songs such as Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus, Veronika, der Lenz ist da and Irgendwo auf der Welt still resonate across generations - through their wordplay, musical sharpness, and the melancholy depth of their arrangements.
The Comedian Harmonists had around ten songs by composer Werner Heymann in their repertoire, including some of their greatest hits, which became international chart-toppers. Before his emigration in 1933, Heymann was one of the most-performed composers of his time. His songs are known from films such as Die drei von der Tankstelle and Der Kongress tanzt. In their current programme, the Münchner Harmonisten focus especially on Heymann's hits - also because he made Munich his home from 1951 onwards.
