European ceremonial music from Versailles and London for trumpets, timpani, oboes, bassoons, horns and organ - a fitting choice for the anniversary season. This is also the 15th appearance of Johann Plietzsch and his Berlin baroque trumpets in Hohenlohe; the ensemble has been a regular guest at the festival since 1997.

The programme features Handel's Water Music and Music for the Royal Fireworks, Michel-Robert Delalande's Concert de Trompettes pour les festes sur le Canal de Versailles, and Jean Joseph Mouret's Symphonie des Fanfares. These were the compositions with which rulers like Louis XIV displayed power and wealth - a wealth that still resonates today.
