European ceremonial music from Versailles and London for trumpets, timpani, oboes, bassoons, horns and organ - the festive sounds that suit our anniversary season perfectly. This will be the 15th appearance of Johann Plietzsch and his Berlin baroque trumpets in Hohenlohe; the ensemble has been a regular guest at the festival since 1997.

The programme celebrates this milestone with Handel's Water Music and Music for the Royal Fireworks, Michel-Robert Delalande's Concert de Trompettes pour les festes sur le Canal de Versailles, and Jean Joseph Mouret's Symphonie des Fanfares. With magnificent palaces, works of art and above all the splendour of these compositions, rulers such as Louis XIV once displayed their power and wealth - a richness that still reaches us today.
