The Neue Philharmonie Hamburg was founded in 2001 by freelance professional musicians from around the world. Since then, the orchestra has established itself as a leading force in the North German music scene. It operates as a dynamic ensemble, expandable from smaller chamber configurations to a full symphony orchestra with choir. Yet the heart of the ensemble remains the chamber orchestra, which has remained virtually unchanged since its founding and is exceptionally well-rehearsed. Through numerous guest performances in Spain, France, Italy, and South Korea, the orchestra has built a devoted following. The musical direction is led by the orchestra's concertmaster, Tigran Mikaelyan.
