Long, long ago, dragons lived and protected the world from the icy cold with the warmth of their fire. But over time, ice began to destroy all living things. Arktos, a terrible snowman, seeks to cover the world in ice. The old dragon Tyrion wants to prepare his young son Tabaluga for his destined task - protecting the world. To do this, Tabaluga must find the True Fire, which will allow him to put an end to Arktos' schemes.

Tabaluga sets out on his journey with the support of a magician. Along the way, he faces many dangers, such as the spider woman Tarantula, but also discovers beautiful things. He learns that the world, full of both good and evil, is worth saving. But Arktos will not give up. He creates a beautiful being from pure ice - a girl named Lilli, whose only task is to distract Tabaluga from his search for the True Fire.

Tabaluga falls in love with Lilli, as Arktos planned, but through this he discovers a great and beautiful power: Love.
