On 20 September 2026 at 17:00, Kulturhaus Torgau hosts a literary reading with Berlin-based author and cultural activist Matthias Rische. He will read from his latest book "Hunde ohne Federn" and share stories that leave a lasting impression.
For more than 36 years, Matthias Rische has worked with children and young people facing difficult life circumstances. That experience runs through all his writing - his novels, poems and short stories carry an authenticity that is hard to manufacture. His work tackles social injustice, family conflict and the emotional weight of everyday life. He is also the driving force behind several cultural initiatives in Berlin that bring together literature, art, music and conversation, spotlighting creative voices outside the mainstream.
"Hunde ohne Federn" brings together 26 short stories about people searching for their place in the world - stories of love and loss, trauma, family breakdown and the small moments of joy that keep hope alive even in hard times. A boy discovers the power of music, a mother fights for her son, a daughter settles accounts with her father, and a black swan swims among the white ones. Each story opens up a new angle and stays with you.
The evening at Kulturhaus Torgau is aimed at readers of all ages who appreciate moving fiction and honest portrayals of human lives.
