3rd Cloister Concert 2026 - Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim

A fresh, compelling approach to music and stylistic breadth spanning early to contemporary repertoire are the hallmarks of the Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim. With a core of fourteen musicians from seven nations, the ensemble is one of the very few full-time chamber orchestras in Europe - a setup that produces exceptional homogeneity and tonal flexibility, maintained even when the ensemble expands with wind players and additional strings drawn from its permanent roster. Founded in 1950, the orchestra is visiting Alpirsbach for the tenth time.

Soloist: Liv Migdal
Liv Migdal comes from an artistic family - her father an internationally respected musician and pianist, her mother a writer. She began violin studies at eleven as a junior student under Christiane Hutcap at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Rostock, graduating with a diploma. She then continued her training in Igor Ozim's master class at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, followed by postgraduate studies in early music with Reinhard Goebel. After completing her master's degree with distinction, she was awarded the Paul-Roczek MusicAward in Austria for outstanding violin playing.

Since her earliest concert appearances, Liv Migdal has received numerous international prizes and scholarships, including first prize at the International Ruggiero Ricci Violin Competition in Salzburg, the International Hindemith Competition in Berlin, the GWK-Musikpreis in Münster, the Fritz Kreisler Competition in Vienna, and recognition from the Mozart Society.
