Victoria Ulriksen

She is known as the "Norwegian organ phenomenon" - and rightly so: Victoria Ulriksen turns just 20 this year, yet she has already given over 50 solo concerts, including at the organs of Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's Cathedral in London, at the Salzburg Festival, and in Karlsruhe, Trier, Bergamo and Switzerland - all in the past year alone!

She first made headlines at the age of 12 when her organ playing wowed audiences on the Norwegian talent show Norske Talenter. She gave her official debut at 15 in Oslo Cathedral.

In Maulbronn, the programme features - alongside the chorale prelude An Wasserflüssen Babylon BWV 653b and an organ transcription of the Concerto for Four Harpsichords BWV 1065 by Johann Sebastian Bach - primarily music of the German and French late Romantic period. It opens with the intensely dramatic Ride of the Valkyries from Richard Wagner's opera, moves through the Benedictus op. 59/9 by Max Reger, and closes with Olivier Messiaen's Dieu parmi nous from La Nativité du Seigneur and Maurice Duruflé's Suite op. 5.
