Clive Carroll

When someone performs nursery rhymes on the banjo in front of an audience at the age of two, a remarkable stage talent seems likely. That was Clive Carroll - born into a family band he joined almost from the start.

As a teenager he played, as one does, in various groups across different styles, before going on to study guitar and composition at the prestigious London Trinity College of Music. A tour with guitar master John Renbourn launched a singular career as a composer and guitarist. Some experts rate Clive Carroll among the finest fingerstyle guitarists in the world. The list of notable artists he has played with is long, running from Mark Knopfler to Tommy Emmanuel.

He has composed music for numerous films and TV series, and in 2023 paid tribute to his teacher John Renbourn with the project "The Abbot". On Thursday, 18 September 2026, Clive Carroll will also offer a workshop sharing his extensive knowledge.
