Rossini in Wildbad: Sémiramis - Belcanto in French
Kurhaus Bad Wildbad, Germany
65.5 €
In the 1860 season, the engagement of the famous Marchisio sisters provided the opportunity to adapt Rossini's Semiramide for the Opéra. Rossini entrusted this adaptation largely to his close friend Michele Carafa, who adjusted the prosody of Méry's French translation, focused the entire opera on the triangle of Sémiramis - Arsace - Assur, and equipped it with a grand ballet score specially composed for the occasion, as the Grand Opéra genre demanded. After the successful premiere, Rossini told his belcanto singers: "You have awakened the dead to new life!". The modern concert premiere of this version in the new edition by Gianmarco Rossi launches the new series "Rossini et le Belcanto en français", generously supported by the Baden-Württemberg Foundation. Diana Haller and Marina Viotti perform.
The purchase of the programme booklet counts as admission to the opera introduction one hour before the start in the Forum König-Karls-Bad.
