Johann Peter Hebel and Music

Johann Peter Hebel, writer and clergyman from Hausen im Wiesental, died 200 years ago. Several of his Alemannic poems were set to music - his New Year's song by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, and many others by his contemporary Martin Vogt, a church musician who is known to have also performed at the monastery of St. Trudpert.

Singer Kerstin Bögner from Staufen and district organist Karin Karle will perform these Hebel settings. The programme is rounded out by organ works of Martin Vogt and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy.

Arno Herbener, an art expert from Münstertal, will explain the connections between Johann Peter Hebel and Martin Vogt and the monastery of St. Trudpert.
