Johann Peter Hebel and Music

The writer and clergyman Johann Peter Hebel from Hausen im Wiesental died 200 years ago. Several of his Alemannic poems were set to music - his New Year's Song even by the celebrated composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. Many others were composed by his contemporary, the church musician Martin Vogt, who is also documented to have performed at the monastery of St. Trudpert.

Singer Kerstin Bögner from Staufen and district cantor Karin Karle on the organ will perform these musical settings of Hebel's poems. Local art expert Arno Herbener will shed light on the connections between Johann Peter Hebel, Martin Vogt, and the monastery of St. Trudpert. The programme also includes organ works by Martin Vogt and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy.
