Jakob Bänsch Quartett

Trumpeter and composer Jakob Bänsch won the Deutscher Jazzpreis 2024 as "Debut Album of the Year" for his first record, Opening. London Jazz News praised his music for its "mesmerizing, Bach-like intensity", and New York jazz critic Bill Milkowski compared him to the young Wynton Marsalis.

His second album, All The Others, came out in February 2025, blending impressionist classical music, modern jazz and folk elements. With his own bands he has played leading clubs and festivals including Leverkusener Jazztage, Jazz Baltica and JazzOpen Stuttgart; as a soloist he has appeared with the WDR Big Band. His collaborators include Nathan East, Nils Landgren, Wolfgang Haffner, Emil Mangelsdorff, Wolfgang Niedecken, Max Mutzke and Michael Abene.
