This joint concert evening by the Landesjugendchor Baden-Württemberg and the SWR Vokalensemble embodies the motto of chor.com: Building Bridges. A seasoned top-tier ensemble sets the stage for outstanding young singers - and together they draw audiences into the rich world of early and contemporary a cappella music. The programme spans from the 16th century to the present day. The SWR Vokalensemble performs Olivier Messiaen's "Cinq Rechants" - a breathtakingly virtuosic and expressive choral work for twelve solo voices, brimming with imagination and creative ideas, widely regarded as the Big Bang of modern a cappella music. Both choirs then join forces for Messiaen's "O sacrum convivium". The Landesjugendchor Baden-Württemberg rounds off the evening with a musical journey through the ages of Polish choral music - from historical pieces to contemporary soundscapes, sung in Polish, English and Latin.
