La Traviata
Opera by Giuseppe Verdi

18.07.2026 - Eppstein Castle Ruins
Start: 19:30 - Doors open: 18:30

All opera lovers can look forward to a new production of Giuseppe Verdi's "La Traviata" on Saturday, 18 July 2026, at 19:30 (doors open at 18:30) in the historic Eppstein Castle ruins. The Opera Classica Europa ensemble presents one of the most popular and frequently performed operas in music history.

The dramatic plot unfolds in Parisian high society in the mid-19th century. At the centre is Violetta Valéry, a dying courtesan of noble birth, who must sacrifice her great love for Alfredo Germont to social constraints and the moral conventions of the time.

The worldwide success story of this deeply emotional work has continued unabated for over 150 years and still captivates audiences above all through its many stirring melodies. The audience can expect numerous well-known hits, including the popular drinking song "Libiamo ne' lieti calici" right at the beginning, which is rarely absent from major gala concerts, and "Sempre Libera", one of the most famous soprano arias of all time. The second act features the wonderful baritone aria "Di Provenza il mar, il suol", and the third act brings the melancholic farewell romance "Addio, del passato" of the gravely ill Violetta and the touching duet "Parigi, o cara, noi lasceremo", when the long-separated lovers finally meet again.

International opera soloists, together with the opera chorus and orchestra of Opera Classica Europa, transport audiences into the world of this very special opera and create an unforgettable experience in a romantic open-air atmosphere.
