When the curtain rises for Karidion Brass, you enter the concert programme "From Opera to Broadway". The first half opens with the grand overture from Georg Friedrich Handel's Baroque opera "Rinaldo", setting a festive tone from the start. Two arias by Antonín Dvořák and Ludwig van Beethoven follow, giving each of the five musicians a turn in the role of an opera singer. The interval is preceded by excerpts from Richard Strauss's opera "Der Rosenkavalier" and the famous drinking song from Giuseppe Verdi's "La Traviata".
The second half whisks you away to the Austrian Wolfgangsee with melodies from Ralph Benatzky's operetta "Im weißen Rössl" (White Horse Inn). The programme continues with music from "My Fair Lady" and the Yiddish musical "Men ken lebn nor men lost nisht". The grand finale brings Leonard Bernstein's "West Side Story" in an arrangement by Ingo Luis.
